I just replaced my HEI with a brand new MSD HEI with new wires too. So i did all the steps of getting it to TDC and all the wires are connected. While running I was trying to let the engine to warm up before setting the timing... But just sounded so rough I got a little concerned. I went ahead and put the Timing Light on it and got it to idle a little smoother but still sounded like the engine was "missing" so i took the clamp off the cylinder #1 and went on down the line. All but 2 wires made the timing light work. . Also a little off topic The carb is begging for more fuel now with just this swap.. im assuming because 2 of the cylinders arnt fireing due to the wires or new dizzy. any ideas you all have to get me back on the road would be greatly appreciated! - my only idea would be to just check the connections to the dizzy.. beyond that i have no clue.

350 SBC - the one off JEGS homescreen.

It sounded like you may have got the wires on wrong. But that would not account for 2 cly. not firing. Could be you have two fold plugs. caused by wire location being wrong. I'd check your firing order, wire location. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. then check your plugs starting with the 2 that are not firing. See if that takes care of problem.anim_25

which two are not firing..? Ensure the cap is down all the way in the back and that it is locked into the endexing lug at the base of the distributor.

I triple checked everything with connections and the wires in the right fireing order the problem just went away. I went ahead and replaced the intake man. too. I got the reg stock edelbrock intake. so.. I started it this morning to head off to work and she fired up quick no problems.. went inside to let it warm up came back out like 10 mins later and put it into drive and gave it some gas and it stalled.. the timing was right on the money last night. It seems like the carb isn't spraying gas. the fuel filter is full with gas and I have 1/2 tank. I sprayed down the carb with cleaner b4 I put it back on too. My guess would be the jets or a fuel line is crimped .. any other ideas?

New Carb...? if not could be accelerator pump, or vacuum advance hooked up, on the correct fitting, there is ported and manifold vacuum ports. This is assuming that it was totally warmed up and the choke works...! too check accelerator pump with engine off air cleaner off, peer down in the carb primary side with flashlite, work the throttle, you should get a steady stream of fuel squirting out of the nozzles, if its just spitting or broken streams replace the pump assembly thru most auto parts stores, if its good we move on to something else.

Just a few other things I am going to attack after Christmas break once I save up some money. Ill post it in the right area. Thanks for letting me pick yalls brains!
