I gave the truck a spring bath last night. Looking things over, I noticed it’s time to replace the shiny rear window trim. The first installation was a complete failure back in 2013. I subsequently installed a 2nd chrome bead lock a couple of weeks later and it also had minor problems, but turned out well enough to live until now. Here’s what it looks like today:

Even from a distance the lower right corner looks like a chunk of lead instead of chrome or stainless trim. I’m going to miss the extra bit of shiny stuff, but I’m not going through the replacement process a third time. I still have the black rubber bead lock in perfect condition that I originally installed with the window seal in 1998, so it’s going back in as it only takes minutes and requires no effort at all.

Having a few minutes before bed, I pulled the damaged chrome bead lock and stuck in the black rubber one. All set for another 20 or 30 years!

Today I finally got a chance to capture a decent picture. The sun was just too harsh to do any better with the equipment I have, but at least the one photo shows all the latest cosmetic changes to the outside of the truck – lowered bumper bullets and front license plate mount, complete hood ornament and base, illuminated portholes, H4 low beam lamps, and repositioned dash cam above the inside mirror:

And this snapshot shows the black rear window bead lock restored to its original position:

Unfortunately the racket from the new glasspack mufflers doesn’t come through in photos!

It sounds more like Two Lane Blacktop….even so sounds good…! So Mark, who owns the 64 to 66 sitting in the background in the second picture..?

Lookin' good Mark.

.....those Purple Hornie mufflers sound awesome... No doubt they sound even better in person.

Hey gang, check out Mark's video on post #1924 here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=7127146

You happy with them Mark?
Absolutely! And they do sound way better in person. I sounds like a hot rod now instead of an old persons Buick. They are about 30-40% as loud as the open pipes, so it’s still fun leaving parking lots after the cutouts are closed.

Long story but it belongs to the step son of the daughter of the home owner, both of whom now live in Alaska! It has a rebuilt small block, soon to be replaced by a built big block. Here’s what it looked like a while back:

It was originally property of the Air Force. He has since replaced the hood, and has new fenders and doors to be added eventually.

Recently joined this forum and read your article today. Have you ever read the children's book "Give A Mouse A Cookie"?.
You and your truck fit the theme of that book:D
I have another idea for an additional modification for your fine machine. Check out this website - they come in blue and look fantastic in a dark cab!

When did Chrysler stop using torsion bar suspension? I had a '68 Chrysler 300 I bought new and tire wear was awful. It seems I must have had the frontend lined up 3 or 4 times a year and high dollar tires never buy Rad 140 seemed to last over 6,000 miles on the front end. I'd take it to get the front end aligned and the first thing they did was take a yard stick and measure from the front fender opening to the road. Usually it would measure around 24-1/2 to 25 inches and they'd go under the car with a large wrench and adjust the torsion bars.
