I have a 1979 250 straight 6 I am wanting to put in my 1966 c10 I would like to keep the original 3 on the tree standard transmission will this combination work or will I have to find another option?

Thanks for the input I'm 23 and recently got my great grandpas 66 that he had bought new I always dreamed of riding in it let alone owning it. It was flooded on the ms gulf coast during hurricane Katrina two of my uncles had it and never did anything with it so now it's mine and time for it to hit the road got a lot of work ahead of me but I know it will be worth it.

The 79 six cylinder has what is known as an integral head with different manifolds than the 66 motor and the later heads were prone to cracking but the good thing is you can take the head off and replace it with the 1966 head. A better setup as then you can retain the original manifolds for exhaust and the carb linkage as well as any accessories.
Any pictures of the project yet?
