I did a search regarding this swap, but didn't find any info. My C10 came with no engine or transmission, but is set up for a three speed column shift. I'd like to put a 350 with automatic transmission in it. aside from swapping out the original column for one that is set up for what I need, is there a way to adapt the manual shift lever that I have now to shift the automatic?

I wouldn't try that as there are 2 levers for stick and 1 for automatic. Best bet head to salvage yard and get the column and linkage from an auto. Get the lever for the trans at the same time.:)

I suppose you could use the 2-3 lever and make it work, but there would be no gate on shifter to keep it from jumping out of park.Could lead to disasster

I just bought my 64 last weekend. They did exactly what your asking. Took the one shifter arm and hooked it to the turbo-350 linkage. It works fine but it doesn't have the gate.

Hasselback you could check with these guys, they have good used parts and could sell you a used column. I bought some column parts from Tony to convert my 3 speed column to a floor shift column.

Speaking of columns, be sure to check your lower column bearing in the engine compartment. That bearing fails more often than not, and can cut / wear the steering column shaft. More on that at post # 25 here: http://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=13928&page=2

Good luck to ya, hope this helps.
