Yep, 300 lbs of plate steel were welded to my rear frame. Pics below.

I just installed 2" lowering springs and my truck stance was exactly as I wanted it. Very happy, except that there was a loud clunk driving over bumps.

Today I crawled under to find the pumpkin has been hitting a thick steel bracket.... except it wasn't a bracket. I had ~300 lbs of plate steel welded over the diff. Eight 1x4x30" bars. PO was a farmer who had heavy duty springs, and probably welded in the weight to help with the ride. An hour and two cutting discs later, it's out.

Of course, now the rear is too high again. Dangit. Maybe when I install the rear tank it will help, but probably not enough weight.

I've only had this truck a couple of months. But, I installed rear springs and shocks and didn't notice the extra steel. Doh.

Maybe some auto OEM could crank out one more engine block if I sent it to them. Ugh, supply chain issues.
