No Love For The 12 Bolt?

sign0016 to the forum. Got any photos of your truck you could share with us here?

I've done 9" Ford swaps before, but not on a C10. I do have a '65 C10 though so I am familiar with the 1963-1972 trailing arm suspension.

You'll need to:

I am curious, why not use the stock 12 bolt truck axle? They are very stout and companies like Richmond Gear have about any gear set a fella could ever want?

Are you currently runing trailing arms and coils or leaf springs....? If memory serves me right your rear axle is 61 inches wide, they changed in 70 and rear axle width went to 62.5 wide, that is as far in width you would want to go, although the you have larger wheel openings you could possibly get by a half inch wider, measure at the wheel mounting surfaces with the brake drums on...! Don' confuse the ford eight inch with the nine inch, quick tip you cannot get a socket on the bottom two Carrier bolts on a ford nine inch....!
Is there a specific reason for changing to a ford nine inch.....?
Another side note...Lincoln /Mercury rear axles use a 9 3/8 ring gear, no parts will interchange with a ford nine inch except maybe axles but only the large bearing, they are strong but limited gear ratios....!
