I'm not a painter but I will, but I was told by one that filler and primer are like a sponge and they need to be sealed if not top coating soon. Some use a primer\sealer,epoxy,and I've even seen one use clear.I stripped a car to bare metal years ago and primed it.About a yer later went to have it painted and the whole car had to be stripped again and the metal sanded and treated because I didn't seal it.Hope this helps

Dave, an epoxy over the filler would be best because it wont shrink anywhere near as much as a 2k primer...if at all. I personally like epoxy over bare metal and then filler. SPI ( Southern Polyurethane's Inc.) Makes the best epoxy I know of and a great forum with tons of info on it.
