Finally bit the bullet and scored a decent Early C10, needs everything except cancer repair.
100,000 mile survivor from the grandson.
I've got to get some ellectrical, hydraulic, fuel system, and tuning done before I can drive it.
It's all original except for some minor repairs over the years.
Looks like granddaddy had ellectrical gremlins for awhile.
Found two used coils behind the seat, may have to boil out that fuel tank.
I'm middle age, married and happy I drove 400 miles round trip last night to get this truck.
I'll do some reading here before I come up with some dummy questions bowtiedb

PS
I like bone stock, with maybe period correct goodies.
It's original white with original green under some rattle can touch up

Thanks you guys

I'm having trouble with the ID of the engine, is there place that can do it?

I found the reason why it was put to pasture about 15 years ago,
Back to the wiring gods on this one,
The neg on the distributor is connected to the neg on the alternator.
Burnt wires in there,
This is fun!

I'm not worried, I just have to get a diagram so I can go by the book.

Would a 63 C10 have an Orange Inline Six? I don't want to start ordering parts until I know what my engine is.

inline 6,yes I'm not sure about Chevy orange on a '63 6 cyl. (body colors are my wheelhouse) but you can buy aerosol chevy orange about anywhere so anything could have been done in the last 53 years.

Roy if I`m not mistaken the original engine color was either gray or light green but I have to research it...
You also can buy partial engine harness from Ecklers or American Autowire to replace your burnt harness, that would make it much easier with all new plug ins..

Thank guys for your time to respond.
I'd like to figure this out,
The frame is an X frame with torsion front end (adjustable??)
3 on tree
With orange engine under a 1/4 inch of crud that matches the transmission.
There isn't a sticky for earlier than 63, do I have to cut a trail to see what I've got?

Well I looked at the title, hmm
It says 62, guy told me it was a 63. Meh.
I still like it, and it shares a frame with a 62 Corvette. Too funny, I wonder if corvette parts fit? Like brakes?

`62 That probably when it was sold in 62 for the `63 model year, there is a metal tag on the drivers door post that is riveted give us that tag we can decode it..its just a generic tag part of your vin but only tells us about the truck.

The little tag on the drivers side post reads
( 2C1540117433)
Thanks for anything you can tell me.

note the sixth digit is actually a o not a zero, for Oakland plant...not listed here because this listing issued in 1964 the Oakland plant was shut down and replaced by the Fremont plant. There are three other locations for your vin, left and right side of the frame just below the doors and the top of the frame rail right in front of the motor mount or crossmember compare these to your vin on registration.

I'll try and post a picture but I'm not good at stuff like this.

And yes it has Torsion front suspension.

Thanks, how do I find out if I have the original engine?

Ok I found it!
The engine is original to the truck and it's a 250 inline.
Now I've got something to go on.

Torsion bar suspension is a dead give away for a 1962....! They changed to coils in `63
