Hey, look what I found under my 1965 Chevy C20 hood.
According to my research 283 manufactured in Flint Michigan, Assembled March 15th, and originally destined for a 1965 Chevelle with a four speed transmission.
I think that's a number (close enough to) matching original for a 1965 Chevy C20. What do you think? Does it pass muster?

P.s. Sorry it is upside down, I was trying to encrypt it.

That works...! Well maybe they normally did not use power pack heads on the truck motors, (thats the pointed arrow on your head ) as the truck motors were built for torque, low compression with small valves, the power pack heads were 10 to 1 compression, the standard heads were 8.5 to 1, now given the age the original motor my have been swapped out at some point with a rebuilt one.
