I have a 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton p/u long bed. If I remove the metal drip moulding from around the doors, will water leak into the cab? They are being removed due to painting the truck. What are my other alternatives to keep the truck water tight?

I had a 74 as I remember the drip metal is stainless trim is. The drip edge is not part of the cab. New or used trim is around. As far as water in the cab if you have good door seals I would think you'd be ok.

Are you going to re install after painting?My 78 they were just screwed on with sheet metal screws.The drip mouldings were painted with the stainless part just snaps on.I removed the stainless and repainted the metal rails and re-installed using electrical rubber tape.Then I just snapped the stainless back on
