I have a 77 c10 with a 350 and as I was installing a new guage I saw that my truck doesn’t have a oil pressure sending unit but instead has a copper line heading towards the guage in the original cluster is was this normal on these trucks?

Dont know for sure on your particular vehicle but the copper piping was the norm in most oil gauges back in the days . I can remember fitting quite a few oil gauge kits on vehicle that did not already have them as standard equipment
