Automotive parking light Wheel Tire Car Vehicle

A host of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks are being recalled as they left the factory with an incorrect spare tire.
A recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that select 2018-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 models equipped with either 18-, 20-, or 22-inch wheels left the factory with an incorrect 17-inch spare.

The car manufacturer notes that driving a Silverado or Sierra with a 17-inch spare while the other wheels are 18-inch, 20-inch, or 22-inch can stop the ABS from engaging.

General Motors notes that the recall covers 552 Silverado 1500 vehicles produced between June 22, 2018, and October 6, 2021, as well as 74 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured between November 16, 2018, and October 6, 2021. No accidents or injuries have been caused by the issue.
To resolve the issue, dealerships will be instructed to provide an appropriate spare wheel and apply a new spare tire information label over the existing tire placard label. Dealers were notified of the recall on December 16, 2021, and owners of affected vehicles are expected to be notified by January 31.
This recall comes shortly after General Motors unveiled the all-electric Silverado EV during CES in Las Vegas. While the electric pickup truck won’t hit the market until next year it promises to keep the ever-popular pickup alive well into the age of electrification.
