This is my 65 c10 that I bought just about a year ago and I’m a little ways through it and decided to start a thread. So far picked the truck up for $200 and finally really started getting to it. Stripped it down to the frame and painted it, disc brakes all the way around, c notch and bags installed. Got the motor out of a 97 suburban so it’s a 350 vortec, just honed the block and got it painted. Goal is a twin turbo setup that will only push 500-600. I’m using a T56 tranny from a Camaro. Chassis is about done just waiting on pitman arm and idler, working on patch panels on the cab when I’m waiting for parts for the engine or chassis. Just have 1 cab corner left and 3 supports. Ordering engine parts this week still trying to decide if I can reuse stock crank and rods after a polish and just gap the rings more or I should play it safe and get a new rotating assembly

Got some things in this week for the motor
-voodoo cam with .489 intake lift and .505 exhaust lift, cam with springs, lifters, and double roller timing chain. A few issues I ran into was. A. Too much lift for the head so I have valve seat cutters and valve seal cutters on they way. B. Since it’s a vortec it has the crank position sensor so a double roller won’t fit the cover ( didn’t know this at the time) so I clearance my stock cover before I bout a new on and it fits. Not sure if I have to run the sensor for the sniper efi kit but nice to know I can.
- I am using stock crank and just polished it up as far as I researched it’s ok for around 550hp.
-stock rods
  • new hypereutectic pistons that will be press fitted in on Monday
  • the cam is flat tappit (didn’t realize that at the time of purchase) but I bought longer push rods to fix that.
  • also started porting the heads
