Does anyone know anything about the reliability of the 1987 Dodge Ram W150 4x4? There is a listing for one in my area and it looks promising. I would like to have a 1982-87 c10, but if this is a good truck as well, I might just take it since having a good truck sooner than later is preferred...

This is a quote from the listing: "Up for sale is a 1987 Dodge Ram W150 4x4 with the 5.2 liter 318ci V-8. The mileage is around 160,xxx. It has a fresh carburetor rebuild by a local professional shop with less than 10 miles on it since rebuild. It has had fluids changed as necessary and also has new brake pads and rotors on the front, new spark plugs and wires, ballast resistor, wipers and wiper arms."

I have already done a little research and found this page on the engine: http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/specs/5_2v8.htm
but all I can interpret from this (since I am newish to cars) is the hp, torque, the fact that its max torque is at a higher rpm than with many c10 engines I have seen (which I assume isn't that big of a deal considering it is still putting out decent torque at lower rpms [http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/specs/figures/97-52L_hpx.jpg]), and that it is a gas hog on the W150 compared to many c10s.

Again, any info on it, good OR bad is great. Thanks!

Edit: That link was to the magnum version of the engine that came into play in 1991...idk how that affects things/what that means yet (again, newish to cars/trucks, heh)...

Edit 2: Another nugget of info... http://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html

Dodge 318 is like chevy`s 327, basic small block dependable, I do remember that they had starter issues for a few years in about there but can`t put a finger on it, as all 4x4 gas milage terrible, look for common rust areas, bottom of rockers, lower front fender, undercarriage..!

Yeah, the gas-guzzling is a negative, but to be honest, I won't be using a truck like this as a daily driver, but just to haul stuff around. From what I can tell from the pictures, there is no exterior rust, or at least very little and the interior looks good.

Here is the listing, btw. What do you think?

I kinda wanted a C10, but I might go check this one out.

At the same time, though, that kinda power might be overkill for my needs.
