Wheel Tire Automotive parking light Car Vehicle

A 1963 Chevrolet Impala Wagon has been named the 2021 Snap-on Custom of the Year by popular car show Goodguys.

This custom Impala Wagon has been brought to life by the Ranweiler family at its automotive shop in Minnesota dubbed Show Cars Automotive. It has previously been awarded the Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama and was named the winner of the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition.
Modifying this Impala Wagon took no less than nine years. One of the most striking changes made to the car is the move to morph it from a four-door into a two-door, drastically altering the overall look of the car. In addition, the roof has been chopped, further adding to the sleek and low overall look of the vehicle.

Elsewhere, the windshield is more steeply raked than a normal Impala Wagon and the B- and C-pillars are completely bespoke. Show Cars Automotive also customized the front fascia of the Chevy for a more streamlined appearance. In fact, the fenders, header panel, core support, and inner fenders are all welded to the cowl to make for a seamless look. The car also has a reverse-opening hood, a bespoke grille, and unique bumpers.
Extensive work has also been done to the interior. For example, there is a Vintage Air climate control system, custom-dyed Italian leather from M&M Hot Rod Interiors, 1959 Cadillac Eldorado seats, and pedals, handles, accessories, and trim pieces that have been machined in-house.
Powering this bespoke Chevy is a 509 cubic-inch V8 with a Hilborn injection system producing 600 hp. This engine is mated to a 4L60E transmission driving a Ford nine-inch rear end.
