Smile Lowering vs ride

Considering lowering a 64 C 10 with a spring change. Any experience on how much you can drop these trucks while retaining the good ride quality? This will be a daily driver and I don’t want it to drive like a dump truck. I have read that the HD is the way to go for retaining payload. Thoughts and expiences would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum Jake, glad to have you here, lot of issues depends on how low you are going, long beds visually look lower with the same amount of drop as compared to a short bed...the lower you go the more parts you`ll need to change to correct the ride, and yes if you still use your truck as I did you`ll need the HD springs. Have you a drop that your considering...? Also check out Ride Tech videos at the suspension section...

We are working on a limited budget, so air bags are out. I was just thinking doing a spring and shock swap. I just don’t want to ruin the ride quality. Can we drop it at all with springs and keep the stock ride? Every car I have lowed over the years drives like a lowered car and that is what I am trying to avoid.

If you do a two inch drop, springs in front, plus shock relocation kit for the front and use the lowering blocks in back nothing else will be required in the back. thats as cheap as you can get.

I'm not being a smart a$$ but using the words like you did "can we drop it at all with springs and keep the stock ride" Stock is stock per the a vehicles manufactures "stock specs" and any time you alter stock using drop springs or the likes stock ride is now out of the equation.
Like what was said above changing something always require more parts to get it back in its proper plain. In every action there's a reaction, you cant push something without a opposite reaction, LOL get it.
