Can anyone share their experiences with transplanting BB ('76 454) into a 70 C10?
We have already found that mounts are the first challenge and are trying to decide if we should go with the stock BB bolt through setup (larger perch hole) or use a 73 style (clamshell?). Any feedback would be helpful.
Other unknowns are
  1. firewall clearance for HEI distributor
  2. are there rad/fan clearance issues?
  3. Best header brand fitment. What have you used?
Any and all experiences are welcome.
Cheers

Big block Chevelle headers work well if you want ground clearance, allows you to tuck the exhaust between the frame rails. You will need a tubular transmission crossmember and will need to modify the trans shift linkage with these headers as they are considered "mid-length". The engine frame mounts will use the front two holes in the frame. You should not have issues with HEI clearance at the firewall. These trucks all used a short water pump so a 76 motor will require trimming the fan shroud.
