Hello from Alabama, I have recently begun a ground up restoration of a 1964 C10 and am changing/modernizing many things on it. Frame was blasted and powdercoated, now working on the front suspension. I bought the entire front suspension assembly from a 1984 1/2 ton truck and mounted it to the frame. I am now installing the steering linkage and am wondering if anyone else has done this? The idler arm from the 1984 truck will not match up (not even close) with any frame holes for the old idler arm. Does the original 64 style arm work with the 1984 drag link? Also installing power steering and have mounted the adapter kit on the left side of the frame but thinking that will be a simple bolt on procedure for the pitman arm. Is anyone aware of any potential problems I may see with this suspension change? Thanks!!

I know you can use 82 idler arm not sure about power-steering the 66 frame is flat where the power box mounts, the CPP adapter spaces the box correctly off the frame. If you bolted the power box up without some sort of spacers, either the frame will crack or the box will break because of the bind.....no way around not using the adapter for the correct mounting unless you cut and weld the frame for the later box to clear [email protected] can answer your questions and makes this bracket is $55.00 plus $7.90 for shipping in the USA.

I already had the CPP adapter plates (inside/outside frame surface), power steering gearbox bolted up fine (after cleaning up a couple holes that didn't line up properly) and drilling threads out of the front lower mounting hole of the gearbox. I removed the idler arm from the '64 suspension assembly and it looks like it might work but the mount arm has a "jog" in it that would require making a spacer for. Additionally, since this is not a boxed frame, I would think it would be wise to add a stiffener plate to the inside of the frame where the idler arm bolts on. Is there a trick to knowing how far forward and "up" the idler needs to be bolted to the frame? Is a rough measurement with a tape measure adequate to locate correct position?
