Original build sheet
Hi all -
How do I go about finding the original build sheet for my '87 c10? Is there a particular database I can go to and input the VIN# and any other identifying information?
Thanks
Matt

The SPID label is the plastic covered sticker, located on the front fender inner wheelhouse or in the glovebox. It is an official document and was required to be placed on the vehicle before it left the assembly plant (for service use).
The build sheet`s usual places can be in the seat cushion or base, behind the door trim panels, under the IP top pad, stuffed in the A pillar or under the carpet - or - none of the above. They will often be ripped, torn, stained or have a bolt driven through them. If you find one of these you are very, very lucky.

OEM build sheet
Does anyone know a supplier for the original build sheet for a 1962 Chev C10. Thanks for your help.

I worked at a GM dealer back in the day, and all the RPO Codes were on microfiche. When we needed to verify specific information, it was a trip to a dimly lit room and the screen. Even though the dealer I was at was one of the oldest in Canada, there was no "fishing" for RPOs older than 1977 and a LETTER was sent to (at that time) GM Photographic, which was pretty much where everything was kept. Then in a few weeks, you received a copy.
Note: All GM Medium Duty and heavier trucks retained an actual build sheet, normally located under the seat. These were normally grabbed by the dealer at PDI, as they listed every part used in the manufacture of the truck, and the RPO listing in the microfiche was not normally complete due to the manufacturing process.
There are many places where you can decode your RPO listing. Be mindful, a specific code for one year is not necessarily the same years later - engine codes, for example.
I reviewed the GM Heritage site, and they seem to only provide the RPO order and options book - not VIN specific.
